As a student, alumna, faculty member, and director, Jane Boyd Ohlin (‘79) has been active with the Dedman School of Hospitality for more than 40 years. Ohlin’s love of entertaining others and traveling drew her to the hospitality industry and has ultimately benefited countless students and alumni. Before a backdrop of the school’s history, Ohlin shares the story of her career in hospitality and FSU academics.

Sean McGinley went from handing out chicken at KFC to shaking hands with celebraties like Carrie Underwood and delegates to the United Nations while managing NYC’s famed Waldorf-Astoria. McGinley talks about the hospitality industry, the value of his experiences abroad in Japan and New Zealand, and how he was able to excel during his time as a student.
Lydia Hanks, assistant professor of hospitality management at the Dedman School, was honored by the Penn State School of Hospitality Management and Penn State Hotel and Restaurant Society with their 2017 Emerging Professional Graduate Award.

The Dedman School of Hospitality announces the appointment of Jason P. Lafferty, former director of the hospitality management and culinary arts programs at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, as director of its new hospitality management program at the Florida State University Panama City campus.

Florida State University’s Dedman School of Hospitality has named Janine Budzius, the general manager and chief operating officer of Philadelphia Country Club, as their 2017 Alumna of the Year. The 1986 graduate will be celebrated at the school’s annual Honors & Awards Dinner on Sept. 21 at the university’s main campus in Tallahassee.
