How did your education at Dedman prepare you for your career? What skills or traits did you learn that contributed to your success?

My education at Dedman was crucial in building both my understanding of the club industry and the interpersonal skills necessary for success. The classes I took provided me with a deep dive into the club industry, equipping me with the knowledge needed to navigate its complexities. More importantly, the emphasis on teamwork, communication, and how to contribute effectively to a team has been invaluable. These skills, along with the technical insights from my courses, continue to serve me well as I work at a hospitality-driven technology company. I’m thankful for the foundation Dedman provided, as it’s directly contributed to my success at Pacesetter.

What was the most memorable part of your time at Dedman? Does anything from a class – or perhaps something a professor said – still stick with you today?

The most memorable part of my time at Dedman was the opportunity to grow professionally through internships, organizations, and networking. The hands-on experience I gained during my internships gave me practical knowledge and real-world insights, which I apply every day in my current role. Being part of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) was another key highlight, opening doors to networking and industry connections that I continue to expand today. One piece of wisdom from a professor that still sticks with me is the importance of building a strong professional network. Dedman’s focus on networking has shaped my approach to relationships in the professional world, and it’s been a guiding principle in my career.
