Established in 1947, the Dedman School of Hospitality is a favored hiring source for managers of the world’s leading hotels, restaurants, clubs and resorts. The Dedman School’s required internship program encourages experiential learning as a complementary approach to classroom education. In addition to established internships throughout the U.S., the school offers internships with world-class operations in countries ranging from Ireland to Australia. Students are encouraged to enrich their education with its Summer Study Abroad Program in Leysin, Switzerland and Spring International Exchange Program in Krems, Austria.
Networking and leadership opportunities are available through student organizations — Club Managers Association of America, Eta Sigma Delta, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, PGA Professional Golf Management Club — and a wide variety of school events. Dedman's unique curriculum parallels the requirements for membership in Florida State's Garnet & Gold Scholar Society. Generous scholarships support Dedman students along the way.
Dedman School of Hospitality faculty members have extensive practical industry experience, and national and international reputations as outstanding teachers and researchers. Their research is enhanced through the International Center for Hospitality Research, led by award-winning international researcher Dr. Woody Kim.
