The Recreation and Tourism Student Association (RTSA) at Florida State University is a professional student organization that brings together individuals passionate about recreation, tourism, and outdoor experiences. RTSA meets bi-weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00PM in the Day Family Collaboration Center (2nd floor of University Center Building B) to plan upcoming trips and events, hear from guest speakers, and enjoy social activities both on and off campus. Meetings vary from career development sessions to group outings like hiking local trails or kayaking at the FSU lakefront, giving members a mix of professional insight and hands-on fun.
Meetings:
Bi-weekly, Tuesday from 6-7PM @ the Day Family Collaboration Center (UCB 2nd Floor)
Each year, RTSA members participate in several key events, including volunteering at The Little Event in the fall and The Big Event in the spring. The organization also travels to the REC Net National Conference each fall, where students network with industry leaders and often secure internships or full-time opportunities.
In the spring, RTSA takes an industry-focused trip to explore new recreation and tourism destinations. Past trips have included a beach and resort tour in the Florida Panhandle and a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, including multiple facility tours. Through these experiences, RTSA provides a welcoming community for students to grow, connect, and discover their path within the recreation and tourism industry.
