Florida State University’s Dedman College of Hospitality unveiled the newly renovated Day Family Collaboration Center on October 24 – a space made possible through the generosity of the Day family. After months of planning and renovations, the center is now a welcoming space for hospitality students to collaborate and engage.

Named in honor of Cecil B. Day, the founder of Days Inns of America, this center serves as a tribute to his legacy of ethical leadership. Day, a pioneer in the hospitality industry, believed in the importance of faith, family values and integrity in your business and personal conduct. The Day family’s dedication to the Dedman College extends beyond this renovation. Their contributions include support for the Cecil B. Day Student Ethics Endowment to fund a student ethics club, as well as student travel and scholarships. Additionally, their generosity continues by supporting the Cecil B. Day Distinguished Professorship in Ethics and a distinguished speaker series focused on ethical leadership. Through these initiatives, students gain opportunities to engage with industry leaders and deepen their understanding of ethical conduct.

The Day Family Collaboration Center is thoughtfully designed to accommodate a range of student needs, from private meeting rooms and computer stations to more secluded areas for individual study. The center's modern furnishings and spacious layout make it a versatile environment where Dedman students can gather, study, and relax between classes.

The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by members of the Day family, including Dedman graduate Clint Day (’82). Former FSU students Brandon and Andrea Day, along with their children, Dean and Maddie, a freshman at FSU, also joined the event.

The Dedman College is beyond grateful for the Day family’s support and for their commitment to shaping the next generation of hospitality leaders with integrity at the forefront.
