Dr. Woody Kim named editor of Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research

Dr. Woody Kim, Dedman Professor of Hospitality Management and director of the International Center for Hospitality Research & Development at Florida State University’s Dedman College of Hospitality, has been appointed editor of the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research (JHTR), a highly ranked, peer reviewed journal in the field.
Published eight times annually by SAGE on behalf of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, JHTR is known for its rigorous, theory-driven research. In 2024, JHTR earned a two-year impact factor of 5.3 and was ranked among the top 20 of 139 journals in tourism, leisure, and hospitality management (source).
Dr. Kim’s work spans decades of research, mentorship, and global scholarship. He has published more than 190 peer-reviewed journal articles and has been cited over 31,000 times on Google Scholar. His recognitions include the 2017 John Wiley & Sons Lifetime Research Achievement Award from ICHRIE, a Fulbright U.S. Scholar appointment for 2020–21, and the Michael D. Olsen Research Award in 2024.
Dr. Kim will join JHTR’s current editorial leadership in shaping the journal’s strategic direction. The existing editors include Drs. Jean Pierre van der Rest (Leiden University), Li Miao (University of Macau), and Peter Kim (Auckland University of Technology), who recently served as a visiting professor at Dedman.

In his new capacity, Dr. Kim will oversee manuscript submissions, the peer review process, and editorial policy, ensuring that JHTR continues to publish work that advances both scholarly discourse and practical application.
